Wild and Crazy Ideas

The MiniPCI connector can be used with any Type III MiniPCI card -- it doesn't have to be the supplied WiFi card.

Want SATA? There's a MiniPCI card for that. Want 802.11n? Perhaps it can be done via a different MiniPCI card. Want Bluetooth for your MG-350HD? Hey, guess what, MiniPCI. Of course, you could do that with a USB dongle too.

Perhaps the most interesting possibility is that of a video capture card. There's at least one, based on the Philips SAA7135 chip, which might be usable (the SAA7135 has good linux support), except for the fact that it's just a capture chip -- there's no hardware encoding, so that would have to be handled by the CPU, and the 8621L is a decoder, not an encoder, so it'd have to be just the 166MHz ARM core. It's unlikely to have the grunt to perform any serious encoding, but it might be able to stream video to the disk for later compression.
